• Yes it does turn itself off if you stop the playback and leave the room or if the disc ends. However, the big problem with that is: It completely shuts and powers off. When you try to resume your movie, the unit has to re-initialize itself. It says "Welcome to the BDP-BX370." Then it brings up the Home screen. So if it shuts down, it takes a long time and navigation to resume your movie. Whereas the Samsung Blu-Ray, you only press the play button twice.
