Yes, but this is very important. The play button which is above the pause and stop buttons may not always work with some DVDs. You might get an incompatible message on the screen. However, the solution is to press the middle button in the black square above above the HOME button. I don't know why this works, but it does. I can play all my DVDS.

It will play both Blu-ray and normal DVDs. I think that was what you wanted to know. You do need a tv..LOL
