Yes @ upscaling must be set-up (but not to 4k UHD) ***better sound*** upon set-up ***Note*** depending upon TV the 1080 would be upscaled to 4k Image @ Most people won't notice 4:4:4 12bit (highest Blu-ray = half @ 4:2:0 10 bit) Sound @ you will notice the difference immediately ______ 480P > 1080 (full HD) = regular dvds & TV shows, streaming services ______ 720 > 1080 (full HD 4:4:4 with 12 bit) = all Blue Ray ______ 1080 > 1080 (FULL RESOLUTION 4:2:0 @ half color standard) ***BT 4:4:4 @ 12 Bit = only few Blu-ray are 1080 from the start UHD = UPSCALE — but — from 10 but to 12 BIT

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi Tom, Yes, the Sony UBP-X800M2 features advanced 4K upscaling technology. This means that when you play your standard Blu-ray discs, the player intelligently enhances the resolution to provide 4K-level detail and clarity, allowing you to enjoy your existing collection with significantly improved picture quality on your 4K TV. Thank you for considering Sony! Regards, Dominick
