The primary differences are the chassis and supported (non-primary) formats, for example, one supports SACD and the other does not. They are similar in function. I purchased the X800M2 for my home theatre, and am considering the 700 for another place in the house. The 700 looks like a quality product and is likely sufficient for most applications.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it is all metal and longer and probably has Bluetooth where the 700 no Bluetooth maybe more plastic but they both have Dolby vision. I have the x800 model and it is probably the same but has no Dolby vision so all Sony did was put a couple of letters on the end and added Dolby vision it is a good unit and I've had no trouble with it.
