QuestionHow long can the unit stay in standby mode? I'm referring to how long it can be left on to the time that it initiates recording. So if I wanted to record something at 8:00 in the morning can I set it on the table in standby mode?

- Answer I'm not sure, but I think so. Check the on-line help site, it's in the instructions but you have to look for the IP address. Took me a bit to locate the info but the site really helped. You may have to create a file and choose it instead of by date. I'm sure the on-line site can walk you through it. I love this little recorder. I'm taking a lecture class with a fast-talking professor and it's a grade saver.

- Answer That is all you need. I did not use an sd card and used the internal memory to record interviews for my research study.I then transferred them to my personal laptop for transcribing. This was a great purchase for me.
