Hi, thanks for reaching out about the wattage of the MHCV71. We do not disclose wattage and here is why. Over the years we have seen posting such numbers results in a spec contest. Specs, and yes even watts can be measured in different ways. For example, receivers take a look at the wattage, then see a number of speakers driven, and distortion rates. All of which vary greatly. Also, watts do not tell you how efficient the drivers are, or any of the components that help the speaker sound great. Thus, telling an incomplete story. Know that as an audio-loving company, Sony strives to give you the best sounding speakers. I hope this helps. Erin
