Mine automatically pause when I take one out and put it back in the case but if you hit play on your phone it’ll keep playing for the one you still have on. If you only take one headphone out and start with just that it’ll also work, so long story short yes. And it only lights up when you’re connecting It to your phone :)

Just be aware that there are different functions for each earbud and you will not have all the functions available if you only use one. The steady flashing blue light means that the earbud is on.
