The best way to maximize ANC performance, is to ensure the tips you are using are large enough to create a tight seal in your ear, but not large enough to become fatiguing. Another tip, because most people don't do this right, is how to put them in. Smush down the eartips until they're flat, and quickly insert them into the ear with a forward twisting motion, and hold for about 15 seconds. It takes a second to master but it makes a big difference. Now if you just want to drown out noise without listen to music, put on very very low volume "Brown Noise" and that will help. If you still feel the ANC isn't up to the task, then perhaps it is a lost cause because the ANC here is only beat by one earbud, the gargantuan Bose QuietComfort.
