“I have had the Sony Sony - 1000X since 2017 and use them almost daily. I am interested in the WH-1000XM3 but concerned about the number of reported pairs breaking. Is this a known design issue and if so is it being fixed. Thanks”

The design is fine. Of the ones that are breaking, I just wonder how careless or rough people are with them. I read one review where they were upset they broke after falling asleep with them on. Well...duh. I have the XM2 and now the XM3, and both are in great shape, because I treat them as a $300 [air of headphones should be treated.
