• They will reduce the sound but thunder has plenty of resonant sound. The headphone will help reduce the sound going to your ear but you will feel the thunder in your entire body.

• Hi george, The noise canceling function is effective in low frequency ranges such as airplanes, trains, offices, near air-conditioning, and is not as effective for higher frequencies, such as human voices. ~Ralph
