Not sure how they compare to the ULT, but the M4 does travel well. The cups swivel so the phones can collapse and lay flat in their firm, oval-shaped case. Through a Sound Connect app, ambient noise can be blocked or reduced on a graduated scale.

The main difference between these two models is their sound profile. The WH-1000XM4 is known for its balanced and neutral sound, which makes it a great choice for all kinds of music. The WH-ULT900N, however, is designed for bass lovers. It has a dedicated "ULT" button that lets you cycle through different bass boost modes for a more powerful listening experience. When it comes to noise canceling, we think both headphones are excellent. The WH-1000XM4 has long been a leader in the industry, offering a precise and quiet experience. The WH-ULT900N is also a top performer and is often considered slightly better at blocking out certain noises, like voices or chatter. Both models have earcups that swivel flat, making them easy to store in their hard-shell cases.
