• The noise canceling is pretty significant. If you want to be able to hear, you need to keep the volume pretty low.

• As the head sets fit completely over your ears to hear more completely the sounds fro your box or TV, the outside sources of calls , phones,ect , are limited.

• Depends how much you turn up the volume. My husband has it pretty loud and he can still hear the dog bark and the telephone. But a conversation is not possible.

• Yes, other sounds can be heard, these are not noise cancelling headphones.
