• I have not had the battery run out - but I do not think they will work if it does.

• No, the battery is necessary to power the headphones. However the battery lasts for over 10 hours and recharges on the stand. I haven't run out of juice yet.

• No..this is a rechargeable battery. If it runs out, you must re-charge.
