• You may adjust the volume independently for both the headset and the display unit. My mom listens to the headset as loud as she wants and we adjust the volume for the TV for everyone else in the room.

• She would need to turn down the TV volume, the headphone volume is independent.

• The tv is still able to be heard while wearing the headphones. It's up to you to turn down the tv volume.
