If your tv, or cable box have bluetooth then they can pair. My cable box does so it worked for me.

Hi Abby, It will depend if your TV supports Bluetooth headphones. You also have the option to use the supplied cable and connect it to the headphone jack of the TV is available. You may check on page 60 of the link below for more information:
