I just bought it a week before Thanksgiving and I also bought Samsung 4K blu ray player. The picture setting changes to HDR whenever I put on a 4K movie.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, it will know when a program or movie is in 4k. You can always click Display on the remote to see what setting you are viewing in. You can go to settings and make your own adjustments but I left mine on Auto and after a couple of days the adjustment the TV has made has my color and picture as it should be.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi bassmanlou, There's a setting to watch 4K contents. Press the HOME button, then select [Settings] — [External inputs] — [HDMI signal format] — the desired option. [Standard format] or [Enhanced format]. You can always check the Picture&Display settings for the quality of your picture. Thanks, >Joffrey
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You have to manually switch it to 4K in the settings menu. It is pretty easy to do though.
