“In the specs for this phone listed is a 900|wcdma does that mean this phone can run on a cdma network just not as fast as a gsm network, i really want a new phone and something different then what is offered by verizon.”

I know this question is old but no this phone will not work on Verizon. Have you considered ditching them for Cricket? I highly recommend Cricket and you'll save hundreds a year. Was just out in the country with my friend that works for Verizon and he had no reception, and I had 4glte on at&'s network.
