Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The X Performance is water resistant as per their website. The US version unfortunately doesn't have the fingerprint sensor. http://www.sonymobile.com/us/products/phones/xperia-x-performance/ In this case, it should be able to stand water/splashes or drops but this phone should have IP65/68 standard so it should be able to handle splashes. Note: the general reason this is scaling back from waterproof of previous phones is most likely due to lawsuits as a phone is always exposed to risk with water. This would then impact a warranty if you have it so it's good to check (all phones would be impacted by this even Samsung ones which have the same rating). Specifically reviews have shown the phone being dropped in wet mud and other options and fine but I wouldn't be scuba diving with this, surfing with this phone, or taking for a swim at the pool. For everyday use and if you spill a drink all over your phone, drop the phone in the sink, rains and the phone gets wet, then the protection should be adequate for normal use.
