Figure out whether Metro PCS is GSM of CDMA network. Then find this phone in the compatible network. I had an awful time with this specific phone. Avoid if you can. Get the better cell phone brands because Sony is great a many things, but smartphones they are far behind.

This will work with any CDMA network.
