You can get up to 16 hours of use, depending what you are doing with it. Brighter screens, backlit keys, game playing, video streaming and other resource-draining activities will all diminish your expected battery life.

Power saving settings are available and it's so fast to boot up, I just shut it off if I set it down for more than 10 minutes. It's just like a car, it depends how you drive it.
