Does this have the ability to swipe cards? null

No, there is no swipe feature with this unit. Only the tap or insert with a chip card.

You can tap, insert or manually key in the information.

The stand itself doesnt have swipe functionality out of the box, however it has a headphone jack slot to use with the original square swipe adapter. Most cards now use tap/ chip but if you still need/ want that functionality you can either get the adapter separately or square will send you one for free when you get started on square/ create an account with them.

It has a chip reader and tap function.
