• The Contactless and Chip Reader requires the Square Point of Sale App to function and the Square app requires an internet connection at all times to function properly. This can be either a WiFi connection or a data service on your mobile device (such as 3G, 4G or EDGE). The reader itself will need to charge through a micro-usb cable and wall outlet, or it can charge through the Square Dock, which has a USB plug in.
