If needs good WiFi and sometimes hotspot is not enough. Yes, you have the option to add a tip selection page.

Works via Bluetooth, you can set up tips in the app and are not default for the transactions until turned on

The reader uses the phone's hotspot.  Does not need WiFi to connect.
