“I went to store yesterday and talked to the guy in that department and explained to him what kind of tv i had and he didn't say if i have a roku tv i do not need the stick.That makes me mad as a single mom of 2 kids i can not afford much.”

You do not need a Roku tv for the Stick to work. The stick will wirelessly connect to your wireless router.
