• If your tv is set to 'auto on' (fast start, you'll see a light even when off. You can check in your tv settings)...then yes. To save energy, my TV is set to not be auto on. Then you must use your TV remote to power on, but it still can power OFF. It DOES have a mute and volume control-big improvement over old version. Don't know about sound bar control.
