How can I fix the static in the car? null

I had static on the preset 88.1 The range for stations is 87.5 to 108. What I did was press the M-(minus) button until the CD player said 87.7. Tuned my radio station to this and the static issues went away. My guess is the preset was too close to an actual station in my area of 88.5. Good luck!
