There was a deadline that you must register your copy of SSBUltimate in order for you to receive your code. This should have been mailed to your email that is connected to your Nintendo username/Nintendo Switch.

Everyone who registers their game by January 31 gets Piranha Plant for free, while the character will be available for everyone to buy at a later date. So if you didn't register your game before the 31st you won't be able to recieve Piranha plant.
