If you leave at least 2" of clearance on the sides and top of the opening, this will allow the bass from the rear woofer to reach the room. Anything tighter will start to behave like a bandpass enclosure and modify the frequency response and degrade the performance. If you are referring to the Denon AVR-X3700H - yes, that AVR will work just fine with all SVS subwoofers. Ed M - SVS
