Hi Rick. It would depend on which system you're upgrading from. If your current DVR is 1080p or higher then it should be OK, but if it's a lower resolution than 1080p we'd recommend replacing the cables as 4K is a high resolution and needs quality cables to ensure optimal performance. -SD, Swann Team
