I did not use the foam and the IPad mini fits perfectly. It does fit snugly but that is good so there is no chance of the IPad slipping out

If your mini is swiveled in the right position the bungee slides up over a groove on the plastic cover. I've never had it come undone.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The foam is not to be used. To keep the case closed on the ipad mini 3, there is a little elastic cord on the side of the case you stretch that and put it around the groove of the plastic case. It's quite easy.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I threw the foam away. There is a small black elastic that hooks around a plastic lump on the other side of the case that holds the case closed. I don't always use it but when I throw my mini in my purse I do use the elastic. It took me a day or two to figure out that the elastic was there!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.My husband just snapped it in. It should fit the iPad mini to perfection. Toss the foam. To close it there should be a little piece of rubber band to slide into the grove on the other side. You may have to rotate the iPad in order to find it.

No you do not use the foam - that is packing material. It stays closed by hooking the black elastic strap around the half circle piece located on the right-hand side. The elastic easily slips around the half circle and easily, using a fingernail, releases the cover.
