Download the roku mobile app. The app includes using a remote via your phone and there is a headphone option that lets you listen thru your Bluetooth ear buds.

The best way to achieve what you are trying to do is to use the Roku app on your mobile device. Then navigate to the remote section of the app to enable private listening. Once you do that you can connect headphones to your mobile device. There are limitations to content that can be played with this feature.
