“We purchased one 7/22 and a couple of days ago we aren’t able to get any picture on the tv. It turns on but just has a blue screen. Unplugged, checked hookups, tried some button combos on the remote but still no picture. Any suggestions?”

I suggest you to possibly donate this to a computer parts store because it sounds like your TV has backlight issues. I had a similar issue recently, and the fix is worth more than the TV itself in the end. Invest in a slightly more expensive TV with a brand that has consistent good reviews and history; TCL is a bit too hit or miss to adequately serve anyone's TV needs.
