• There are power saver settings that you can toggle on/off depending on your preference. Additionally, in order to stream content, you would need to be connected to the Internet via WiFi or through Ethernet. Hope this helps! Thank you, TCL Customer Support

• It does go to dark/sleep setting if I pause it or if nothing is streaming on it while I walk away. It does not shut off, and touching the remote brings it back to live. Streaming apps, no, it needs a network connection to something to stream. It won't take the place of a router. That said, the TV or any video pushed to it over HDMI will play without it being connected to WiFi.
