Cable optional but can buy an antenna that allows you to see local channels.

There are several other live TV streaming services that are not cable which you can subscribe to through Roku. I will NEVER go back to cable. In addition to the Roku TV, I have three other Roku devices. All are on the same Roku account and get all the same channels.

You can go to www.Roku.com/whats-on to see what streaming channels and apps are offered through the Roku Channel Store.
