“I see on the display it shows HBO and Netflix - does it work the same as Apple TV where you can upload other apps to the TV like Showtime or other channels and then sign in with your cable provider? I am not too familiar with Roku/Smart TV's functions.”

I have added Hulu and HBO Go to mine. As you mentioned you download the app and then the app requires you to sign in with an account or your cable provider information.

All of our TCL Roku TVs have a Roku operating system built-in. Roku is a streaming platform that offers many features, including thousands of streaming channels (apps) and over 500,000 movies and TV episodes. Some content is free while other content is subscription-based or pay-per-view. You can go to www.Roku.com/whats-on to see what streaming channels and apps are offered through the Roku Channel Store.
