“I just purchased this tv and had AT & T/Directv. This is NOT compatible with this television. I have a Firestick that I previous bought from Amazon, which I cannot seem to be able to connect. I cannot get local news. Do I need to buy cable?”

This is a smart TV so if you have wifi you can sign in and and add apps to get the local news channels.

This TV also includes 3 HDMI ports to connect external devices, such as that of a Firestick. Additionally, this TV has a coaxial located on the back of the TV near the other inputs.
