“I only get 2.0 audio using the optical out connection to my old soundbar. I've tried all of the audio options but cannot get the subwoofer to come on. My soundbar has a digital readout that states "2.0". Old TV did "2.1". ???”

that is common with optical audio out. try hdmi arc from tv if soundbar has that connection
