A:Answer It's sort of both. The uniformity issues are a risk in lower-end panels, but there's a serious quality control issue that's affecting these in particular. We LOVE the TV (90% because of the Roku interface to be honest) so were willing to go through several exchanges to get a panel that didn't have terrible banding, but there's definitely some "dirty screen" effect on this that isn't present on other TVs in this price range. For us, it was worth it, but for people who watch a lot of content with pans over single-color surfaces (e.g. hockey), it could be problematic. For us it's not super noticeable and was worth it for the fantastic interface, price, and overall video quality.
