No, for me that was not necessary, I just put the Terk, on the wall up a little high a little close to the window but not that close and it seems to work perfect and it's been like that since December every now and then I do a little adjustment.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.We mounted our antenna near the center of our living room and seem to get plenty of stations. Perhaps if it were mounted near the window it would get more, but we do not see the need to do that.

The company wants you to use window as it is best chance of being successful. I live 30-40 miles from downtown Chicago and have no problem with reception.
