do you plug this into your cigarette lighter? If so, does it shut off on its own or should you be unplugging it every time? thanks null

My unit was wired directly to the power source, which I would strongly recommend. It activates automatically and monitors the vehicle while parked, great additional feature.

I purchased the hardwire kit and using this kit it turns on and off automatically. I use the parking mode which uses very little energy.

Yes you can. I wired my unit to the car’s electrical system so not to use the lighter port. It does have passive coverage if someone or something hits the car.

You can hard wire it to your fuse box and it’s rolling all the time, or you can plug it in to your 12v and it shuts off.

If you use the cigarette lighter it shuts off you do not need to unplug each time. If you hardwire it or use the additional adapter it turns into parking mode when the car is off.

Hello, our dashcams can be powered with either a hardwiring cable, an OBD II Power cable (both these cables will enable your dashcam's parking mode), or a 12V power cable that can be plugged into the cigarette port (this power cable will not enable your parking mode). We suggest to unplugged the cable when using a 12v power cable this is to make sure that your vehicle's battery won't get drained for some reason that some vehicle still provides a power to the ACC even when the engine is off.
