My unit was wired directly to the power source, which I would strongly recommend. It activates automatically and monitors the vehicle while parked, great additional feature.

Please try again later.Hello, our dashcams can be powered with either a hardwiring cable, an OBD II Power cable (both these cables will enable your dashcam's parking mode), or a 12V power cable that can be plugged into the cigarette port (this power cable will not enable your parking mode). We suggest to unplugged the cable when using a 12v power cable this is to make sure that your vehicle's battery won't get drained for some reason that some vehicle still provides a power to the ACC even when the engine is off.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.If you use the cigarette lighter it shuts off you do not need to unplug each time. If you hardwire it or use the additional adapter it turns into parking mode when the car is off.
