Can I change out the wheel null

Pretty sure you can't no, if you want changeable wheels you'll need to go for one of Thrustmasters other wheels.

No the wheel is as far as i know impossible to take off the base

The wheel on the Thrustmaster T248 can not be removed. You can swap out the wheel on the following Thrustmaster systems: T300, Tx, T-GT, TS-XW and PC Racer
