If you lose your internet connection you can still watch recorded shows and live TV. All that happens without an internet connection is that your program guide will not get updated everyday.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes the recorded content is on the hard drive and does not require wi fi to watch same as live ty that runs thru an over the air antenna. To watch streaming apps such as Hulu and Netflix you will need good internet connection.
