I had a TomTom with Lifetime maps. I came to find out lifetime meant the lifetime of the unit and because I bought it on close-out. It was only good for 7 years
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. To update simply plug into a computer and go to TomToms Home page for directions. We had an older TomTom too. Tried to update maps but technology was too old. Purchase a new one - works great. Will update periodically in the future. I have found TomTom tech support as excellent.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Had the tom-tom for about a month. When I bought it and registered it online I did the map updates at that time. I haven’t updated the Maps again. On my last trip it tried to put me down some gravel roads. In the set up I had checked ask before grouting on dirt roads. I was in a pick up pulling a trailer and I didn’t want to go on gravel or dirt roads in the mountains. In the cities It did reroute around some bad traffic.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The map updates will work for the one map it comes with. You just have to plug it into your computer regularly and download the updates. I had an older TomTom and it finally had no memory left for the updates, so the lifetime is a limit. I did not download other maps, so I don't know if they will update as well or if you would have to pay for the updates to other maps downloaded.
