Hi there Edward Lifetime maps means a lifetime subscription to maps of USA & Canada on this device. You can keep the maps updated in the MyDrive Connect software on a computer: www.tomtom.com/getstarted This device does not feature the real-time TomTom Traffic (this is known as Live Services), however it can receive Traffic updates via the RDS-TMC signal which picks up congestion via a radio signal.
