“When displaying in 1080p does it give you a true 1080p or does it turn into a smaller resolution, I had bought a UhD tv a while back and tried changing my resolution to 1360X768 or 1280X720 and it was to small.”

True 1080p. Might not see it right away with a laptop connected as it will default to Duplicate, with whatever resolution the laptop is running. But this can be changed in the advanced display settings in Windows.
