“The display brightness goes dim and then bright randomly -- irrespective of the input (Antenna TV, Blu Ray DVD (HDMI), or streaming video via native You Tube, Hulu apps. Firmware updated to latest. Would appreciate tip to fix this issue.”

Some of these TVs have an adaptive brightness setting that will auto adjust brightness compared to the light in your room. You might check that. Hope that helps.
