Yes to both questions. Each person to view the camera(s) needs to download the Kasa app to their phone and activatet via wifi the first time. I'm not very versed in wifi or gadgets, but was able to do this with minimal help from my son. If you install a mini SD card to record, only one account person can review the card at a time. It hasn't been a problem between us. I have talked to my sister 100 miles away on the camera mic on her cameras. Installed 3. Very good picture quality. 128 SD card lasts over a week 24/7 then starts to overwrite or you can reformat SD and empty it. On sale for us, good value.
