I'd suggest placing it wherever the extender shows all blue lights - if it doesn't show all lights, then it's too far away from the router

Wi-Fi extenders need to be installed in an area where the router's signal is sufficiently strong/stable, yet far enough from the router to extend its range to the desired location. Depending on the location and reach of your router's Wi-Fi signal, installation location will vary. For example; you may be able to install the extender at an indoor location at the outermost wall nearest to second house.
