“will this work through a steel sided house? I get no wifi signal when on our back deck with my Amazon Fire tablet, our router is about 60 feet away from the back deck. We already have a Netgear extender about 15 feet from the deck for our generator.”

How well it works will depend on your existing network environment, the placement of the extender in relation to the router, and the layout of your home. A steel-sided house will provide more of an obstacle for Wi-Fi than wood or drywall. This extender may work; however, if you need additional outdoor Wi-Fi coverage, we suggest considering our Deco X50-Outdoor or outdoor EAP models, such as the EAP610-Outdoor.

Please try again later.I have only used this device in access point mode inside a steel building and it works well for troubleshooting our systems using a laptop about 40ft from the extender. For you if you couldn’t utilize the extender on your generator than I would install a switch near the generator extender Ethernet connection to connect both extenders to your router.
