The antennas can be moved 180 degrees so mounting the link horizontally would be no problem at all whether mounted on a wall or floor outlet.

Wi-Fi range/output will vary depending on environmental factors within your home, such as physical obstructions (walls, etc.), router placement, extender placement, and which Wi-Fi band(s) are being used.
